Emma Aru, a story of creativity and success. Emma Aru, considered the Dean of the conference industry in the Mediterranean area, perceived that countries with smart and large hotels, Exhibitions, Museums, Palais des Congrès, art spaces, could prepare a valuable offer and compete with other capital cities to host international meetings and conferences moving around Europe and not only every year , every two years and more. In the 60ties, the conference industry began to increase. Many conference halls were built to host large congresses with appropriate spaces, technology, quality services in order to compete with Vienna, London, Barcelona, Paris and other smaller towns. The Congress participant stays in town four nights at leastl, is a big spender, appreciates our culture, our monuments, our museums, the Italian hospitality and Italian food. Emma Aru haas been working for more than 50 yeras to bring international conference tourism to Italy, stimulating the attention of the Government and Regions. She is a founding member of the Roman Convention Bureau. She had important positions in Unindustria-Confindustria, Federcongressi, IAPCO, ICCA and FERPI.She has written papers and publications on the subject. Today she is President of ega, managed and directed by her daughter Prof. Claudia Golinelli, and she is vicepresident of Progetto Itaca, a volunteer association who assist and support young people affected by mental illness.
